“It feels like being in the Stone Age,” a Reddit user reported during the first PlayStation breakdown yesterday. Maybe he was being dramatic at first, but it has been over 24 hours now, and the service is still down.
So yes, folks, PlayStation officially announced at 8:41 PM ET on their website that users are experiencing a major service outage across all major consoles and web-based services. Due to these errors, PlayStation has become a hot (and funny) topic on various forums, including Reddit and others.
The Playstation Network is down in a global outage
Across the globe, almost every user is facing the same technical issue, with many confirming that they cannot access their online games, and some were even kicked out of ongoing gaming sessions.
While attempting to access PlayStation Network, many users were greeted with “The connection to the server timed out,” while others encountered the error message, “An error has occurred.”
The PlayStation Network status page has confirmed the outage, stating that it affects all services, including account management, gaming and social, PlayStation Video, PlayStation Store, and PlayStation Direct.
While many users have reported that they are now able to use the service, and Sony has also updated that services on the PS5 have been restored, a number of users are still reporting on X that they cannot access their services, and services on other consoles have yet to be fixed.
Play Station Global Outage has become a meme over Social Media
While this event has stressed out a lot of users, plenty of them are using the opportunity to poke fun at Sony while sharing their frustrations on X. Here are some of our favorites:
PlayStation is yet to release a statement on the outage
While there are multiple videos available on YouTube explaining how to fix this issue, none of them are working, and according to our tech team, these tips and tricks will not work either. Since it’s a problem on PlayStation’s server end, you cannot fix it on your own devices. “Unless you hack into the system”—though we do not advise you to do that.
For now, all we can do is chill, relax, and wait, as Sony still needs to provide us with an explanation and a proper solution. Stay tuned and keep following Sony’s Network status page.
